Hey friends! Thanks for checking out ABIDE Missions - Knightdale! My name is Samantha (Sam) Farrington and I am the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of ABIDE Knightdale. Just a bit of background info about myself and how we got here...
I was born and raised in Knightdale, NC and went to NC State University for Construction Engineering. I grew up going to Knightdale Baptist Church and was always (and still am) heavily involved in our youth ministry. My favorite times in youth were always our mission trips/ projects! God grew my heart for missions at a very early stage in my life. I was on the mission trip to TN in 2011 when I first felt the calling from God to do bigger and better things with my life through missions.
This calling followed me all the way through college when in 2016 I received an email through the engineering department that Next Step Ministries was looking for a construction team member for a summer internship. Ministry and construction... yes please! This is how I ended up in Joplin, MO in summers 2016 and 2017 and ended up moving to Joplin in 2018 for a little while. God increased my passion for his people and for community organizations during those years! At the same time, God was calling Chip and Journey Church to start their own missions organization within the church and community in Joplin. This was the beginning of ABIDE Missions! Through the increased passion God gave me and the relationships that were built with Journey Church in Joplin and Knightdale Baptist, Chip and I felt called by God to spread ABIDE Missions from just Joplin to Knightdale. The vision God has placed on my heart for Knightdale is that through the help of ABIDE Missions, we can unite the existing churches and ministry organizations in the community to become The Church, one single body of God serving people. The way we all serve may look different, but the heart and mission is all the same. Sharing God's love and word with his people in Knightdale and other local areas. Now, where do week long mission groups come into the picture? You all get to be a part of this bigger picture by coming to Knightdale and helping serve the community alongside the existing churches and organizations. This may look like helping DreamCoat organize their inventory, or helping Community Helpers pass out food, or helping a home owner in the area with some basic construction projects. There is definitely a wide variety of need in our community and any help from you all would make a huge impact!
